In a few days we take off to the island of Kauai in search of Kava Kava farms. This plant, botanically known as Piper mysticum, is a favorite of mine. Used in the treatment of depression and as an aide for relaxation. It was originally used as a ceremonial drink of the native people of Hawaii. They would have young virgins chew the fresh roots and spit them into the cups for the elders. What a way to enjoy a drink!
We will also be searching for other useful botanicals such as the Kukui tree!
