Fresh Friday Stops by the Studio

Fresh Fridays

These days, as far as skin care goes, the saying is “if you can’t put it in your mouth, don’t put it on your face”. Skin products of 2012 are all about holistic dermal care. The idea is to have a farmer’s market for your face.

The average person lathers, rubs, and sprays 10 different skin care products on his or her body everyday! Our skin, especially the face, acts as a sponge instead of a barrier. That being said, a study conducted at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health found skin absorbing an average of 64% of the total contaminant dosage. Another study showed the face absorbing 2-6 times more than any other body surfaces, for example, the torso. And the underarms showed up to 100% absorption (Kasting 2005).

With this knowledge, why would we allow our skin to absorb toxins and chemicals, as opposed to therapeutic properties from nature?

Some leaders in holistic skin care are Sonya Dakar, Green & Spring Apothecary Goods, Roots Rose Radish Artisanal Skincare, Doterra Essential Oils, Dr. Brunner’s, and Burts Bees.

I have personal experience with Doterra Essential Oils Products. These products aren’t just for skin care, but also to keep your entire body cleansed of toxins, to make you glow inside and out. The combination of rosewood, melaleuca, eucalyptus, geranium, lemongrass, and black cumin seed make up a topical blend called “Clear Skin” which I use daily. The blend not only rejuvenates skin cells but also creates an “unwelcome environment to bacteria and microbes”. This is just one of many skin care products provided by Doterra.

Another product with all those veggies and roots for your face is, Roots Rose Radish Artisan Skincare. Christian Toscano’s (the creator) creations smell delicious and have the most delicious of ingredients. From honey and ground pecans in the Honey Pecan Face Cleanser, to jojoba, blue chamomile, and carrot seed oil in the Blue Chamomile Face Cream, these products never disappoint. The natural ingredients in the products will fight against fine lines and hydrate even the most parched of skins.

So, why put these chemicals on your face, when you could be healthier and glowing. Follow the fad and grab a carrot instead of a chemical.
