This Natural Belly Butter Recipe is Midwife Approved

As you may or may not know, our founder Christian Toscano is a Midwife with her own practice, Fertile Moon Midwifery, which she has been running for several years now in addition to Roots Rose Radish. Her work as a midwife has been featured in multiple publications from the New York Times to Fashionista and she is part of a growing wave of natural beauty companies founded by birth workers, i.e doulas and midwives. Today on the blog, she shares a special recipe for all of the new and expecting Mamas out there for her favorite belly butter. Why she loves it: It is all natural and utilizes essential oils which have been used for thousands of years for aiding the stretching skin that is growing a baby.

BELLY BUTTER

½ cup cocoa butter

¼ cup coconut oil

⅛ cup shea butter

¼ cup calendula infused olive oil

1 tbsp rosehip infused olive oil

1 tbsp grated beeswax

15 drops vitamin e oil

15 drops lavender essential oil

Gently warm the coconut oil, calendula infused oil, beeswax and butters in pan. Once melted, remove from heat, and add vitamin e oil, lavender essential oil. Quickly pour into containers. Allow the balm to cool to room temperature before using. Enjoy!
